Twitter needs a language…
… meta tag!
So, here’s the idea: Twitter adds language meta info to each tweet (accessible via API). Each user can set which languages they want to read. When composing a tweet, you set the language in which you’re writing. Your followers will only get the tweets in languages they understand.
Seriously! Twitter really needs that! It’s nothing novel to be bi-/multi-lingual (<rant>except if you’re american</rant>). And just as, for example, swedes tweet in English AND Swedish, so do I tweet in Portuguese AND English. Why would I care to read their Swedish tweets or why would they want to follow my Portuguese tweets? I think this kind of solution is WAY better than any translation implementation.
